Homeland security is a federal agency whose mission is to prevent acts of terrorism in the United States. The term became more common after the September 11 attacks. Some of the things homeland security is responsible for are: preparing for terrorism and natural disasters, domestic intelligence, border security, and transportation security. Barack Obama believes that America needs to pay more attention the homeland security. He supports efforts to distribute more funds to cities that are at the biggest risk of a terrorist attack. John McCain supports the development of natural missile defenses, believing that they are critical in order to protect America.
There are many environmental issues, including global warming, energy conservation, pollution, and the depletion of resources. John McCain believes that our economic prospects depend upon the use of unspoiled natural resources. Barack Obama promotes green technologies and fuel efficiency standards.
